  • Alert Message:  July 22, 2020  (5:00pm)

    Good afternoon,

This is Dr. Sandra Carter, Superintendent of Caswell County Schools.  It is Wednesday, July 22nd at approximately 5:00pm.

The purpose of this message is to inform parents of a change in the 2020-2021 Caswell County Schools Re-entry Plan.

Today, the Caswell County Board of Education meet in a Special Called Meeting for the purpose of revisiting their prior decision to open schools under Plan B on August 17th.  Plan B was a Hybrid Model where students could attend school on specific days or choose remote learning.

Today, the Caswell County Board of Education voted to begin the 2020-2021 school year on August 17th under Plan C.  Plan C provides total remote learning for all students.  Plan C will be implemented during the first nine weeks of school, through Oct. 14th.  The Board of Education will revisit Plan C at the Sept. 27th Board meeting and discuss student progress as well as the possibility of transitioning back to school after Oct. 14th.

Please know that the Board of Education labored heavily in making this decision.  There is no one plan that works best for everyone.  However, it was evident from parent and staff survey data that the overwhelmingly number one concern was safety while at school.  This data, along with the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Caswell County and data from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the NC Dept. of Health and Human Services (NCHHS) further supported the decision to move to Plan C.

As a reminder, this year, all students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade will have access to a Chromebook.   Prior to the start of the school year, you will receive additional information from your child’s school regarding Chromebook pickup as well as information for the start of school.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to provide all students with a safe learning environment.

    Have a good evening,

    Dr. Sandra Carter
