  • It is my privilege to introduce Mr. Lance Stokes as our new principal of Bartlett Yancey Senior High School.
With a candidate pool of over 16 applicants, Mr. Stokes has the qualities and skills to bring Bartlett Yancey Senior High School to new heights.
To ensure the right candidate was selected as principal for BYSHS, in November, 2019, a survey was sent to BYSHS students, district staff as well as community members to provide feedback as to the qualities and skills needed in the new principal.  The feedback was clear as to selecting a principal that has a strong academic focus, successful experience as a school administrator as well as excellent rapport with students, staff and the community.
Our eleven panel interview committee was comprised of community members as well as BYSHS staff and Central office staff.  The dedicated committee spent numerous days reviewing applications and interviewing many highly qualified candidates.  Mr Stokes stood out as the leader for BYSHS!  His strong leadership skills, compassion for educating students as well as his support in ensuring students have opportunities to be successful  beyond high school made Mr Stokes stand out from other candidates.  The Caswell County Board of Education and I are excited for the leadership vision that Mr. Stokes will bring to BYSHS!
Mr. Stokes grew up in Caswell County and is a graduate of BYSHS.   Please join me in welcoming Mr. Stokes as he returns to Caswell County.  A “meet and greet” will be planned in the near future as he transitions to BYSHS over the upcoming 60 days.
Mr. Stokes has shared the following information:
It is indeed an honor and privilege to be named Principal of Bartlett Yancey Senior High. It is great to come “Home” and serve the community that formed my core values and taught me how education, determination, and work ethic could provide me access to so many opportunities in life. I believe that the entire community has a responsibility to ensure our students are successful and graduate career, college, and life ready.
As an educator, I have twenty years of experience. I began my career as an elementary teacher, and I have sixteen years of experience as a school administrator serving as an assistant principal for six years and a principal for ten years. I have served as a principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels in Guilford County Schools. I’ve earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from North Carolina A&T State University, a Master of School Administration, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
My wife Fredricca and I have been married for seventeen years, and we have two wonderful teenaged children: Lauryn and Cameron. In my spare time, some of my hobbies include learning new things, reading, traveling, and playing the piano. Together, we will continue the GREAT things happening for our entire school community.

New Immunization Requirement for students who will be

entering 12th grade in Fall 2020!

Certain current 11th grade students will be required to have a Meningococcal vaccine

(MCV/ MenACWY)  by the beginning of their 12th grade year (2020-2021).  This vaccine is required for ALL students in North Carolina who will be entering 12th grade in the fall of 2020.

This is the second dose of the Meningococcal vaccine (MCV/MenACWY)  which you received as a requirement for 7th grade in 2015. If you had your first dose at age 16 or after, you are NOT required to get the second dose.

Please contact the school nurse, your primary medical provider, or your local health department to schedule an appointment for the vaccine sometime this school year. You must turn in your complete immunization record to the school nurse prior to the beginning of the 2020 - 2021 school year.

You are advised to take care of this now during your 11th grade year.   Please contact your Caswell County School Nurse or your primary medical provider if you have questions.
