Hello! Glad you stopped by. My name is Mauriah Smith and I am thrilled to be teaching the students of North Elementary. I am the school librarian and technology coordinator. I graduated from Greensboro College with my B.A. in Elementary Education in 2013 and I've been teaching in Caswell County ever since. I am currently a graduate student at UNCG pursuing a Master's of Library and Information Science degree. 

In class, we will focus on learning skills needed to navigate the library, digital literacy, research, and literature. My goal is to equip and inspire everyone to enjoy reading and to make the students more comfortable using technology.

Have you ever heard of Makerspace? Kids naturally like to tinker and build things and makerspaces encourage that natural creativity. The best thing about this space is that students are able to practice critical thinking skills, challenge their imaginations, and come up with solutions to real-world problems. We do a lot of makerspace activities in the library and the kids love it!
