Course Description

  • Visual Arts 1 is the Beginning Arts Course for High School. Students will learn the Elements of Art and Principles of Design by exploring Drawing Basics, Introduction to Watercolor Painting, and other Art Media such as Color Pencils and Pastels.

     Beginning High School Visual Arts is a course designed for studenets with no or limited K-8 Visual Arts education. It is required before taking Intermediate Visual Arts 2.

Class Expectations

  • BE RESPECTFUl:

    Respect your peers, their artwork, and their feelings.

    Respect your teacher, listen to and follow instructions.

    Respect art supplies and school property.

    USE YOUR TIME WISELY:

    Use the first five minutes to work on the daily warm up assignment.

    Use class time wisely to learn how to create beautiful artwork.

    Use class time to develop techincal skills in creative art.

    Use the last five to eight minutes to clean up.

    COME PREPARED:

    Be on time to class, we start when the bell rings.

    Be in class. 

    Bring your art supplies to class.

    Be ready to follow instructions, ready to learn new techniques.

     

    SAFE SCHOOL:

    Use art materials in the proper manner and with safety. 

    Put art materials in their proper storage areas.

    Clean up the art room and materials at the end of each class.

     

Grading Criteria for Art 1

  • EACH ART ASSIGNMENT WILL BE GRADED ON AT LEAST FOUR CRITERIA

    A = 100-90, B = 89-80, C = 79-70, D = 69-60

    F = 59 & below
