Common Online Threats to Watch For:

Phishing Emails & Fake Login Requests

Scammers may pretend to be:

  • School staff
  • Technology support
  • Banks or payment companies
  • Delivery services
  • Government agencies

They often ask users to:

  • “Confirm your password”
  • Click suspicious links
  • Open unexpected attachments
  • Verify payment information

Remember:
Caswell County Schools will never ask you to send passwords through email or text.

Fake Payments & Refund Scams

Be cautious if someone:

  • Requests payment with gift cards, Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, or wire transfers
  • Claims you owe money immediately
  • Offers a refund but asks for banking information
  • Sends “accidental payments” and asks for money back

Always verify requests directly with the organization.

Free Offers, Giveaways, & Prize Scams

If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Scammers often use:

  • Free electronics offers
  • Fake scholarships
  • Gift card giveaways
  • “Limited-time” school supply promotions

These scams often collect personal information or payment details.

Phone Call & Text Message Scams

Do not trust unexpected calls or texts asking for:

  • Passwords
  • Student information
  • Social Security numbers
  • Banking information
  • Immediate payments

Never click suspicious text links.

Safety Tips for Everyone:
