Superintendent's page
It is a pleasure to serve as the Superintendent for Caswell County Schools. As a Caswell County native, I have spent the majority of my career serving the students of this county. Dillard Middle School was the start of my journey as a 6th grade social studies teacher working alongside some of the best educators who worked in the district under the direction of Mr. Frank Scott. Furthering my career as an assistant principal for Bartlett Yancey High School was one of the best decisions made to enhance the educational leadership experience.
I was honored to become the principal of N.L Dillard Middle School and principal of Bartlett Yancey High School under the direction of Dr. Douglas Barker.
The journey has also allowed me to serve in Rockingham and Alamance Counties as I gained more knowledge and experience, and it has come full circle bringing me back home to also serve as the Human Resources Director for the district.
Although this is a new role as Superintendent, I am not new to leadership. It has been wonderful working with staff and seeing former students in this district. I am excited about this new endeavor and will work to ensure our students are Empowered, Engaged and Excel.
Stoney Creek Elementary School had their first listening tour on September 4th. Superintendent Gwynn, and Mr. Nelson Showalter met with Dr. Hilary Moore and her staff to listen.
The staff was asked a series of questions and they shared the following information.
1. What do you love most about Caswell County Schools?
We like the relationships developed between staff and students. We also enjoy the community partnerships and because we are so small we know most of the people we work with. We have tight-knit community. Elementary School Director Mrs. Beavers values our input as it pertains to programs and purchases for our students.
2. What should we never change about the district?
We like the uniqueness of our district and school.
Having a small class size has given teachers at Stoney the opportunity to build a better bond with students, low numbers has also allowed us to intervene when needed and work with students using a 1 on 1 approach.
Convocation. Even though I’m a little distracted when I go because I have so many things to get done in my room, I really enjoy spending that little bit of time with the whole district.
Never change the family feel of Stoney Creek Elementary School
3. What needs immediate attention?
Gradually putting new things in place by using pilots because too many new things can be overwhelming at one time. We would appreciate more consideration during inclement weather. We would appreciate teacher supplements in order to be more competitive with neighboring districts. We would also benefit from more support staff in specific sub-group areas.
Of course we want more time to plan and allow more time for vertical alignment planning with other teachers in the district.
Thank you Stoney Creek Staff! It was amazing meeting with you and spending time with you.
