I am a veteran teacher new to Bartlett-Yancey High School. I have been an educator for twenty-three years and truly enjoy working with high school students to develop and improve their science and journalism knowledge. I am a second generation educator with a passion for young adults in their development of the world around them and the need for learning to research and find their own voice.
My "official" educational career started at Ferndale Middle School in High Point, NC with Guilford County Schools, teaching Science and Math for eighth and then seventh grades for my first two years. In addition, I assisted with the creation of the middle school yearbook, both through photography and compilation. From there, I returned to my alma mater, Southeast Guilford High near Pleasant Garden, also with Guilford County Schools. At Southeast, I taught Biology, Earth, and AP Environmental Sciences, as well as the Journalism/Yearbook course for the last twenty-one years. After meeting some of the staff of BY, I decided to take a leap of faith and move again to a new county to work with students in a new and different small community.
