• N.L. Dillard Music

Mr. Walters is excited for the 2020-2021 School Year. He is very looking forward to learning, creating, and talking about many different musical ideas with you all this year!

  • Band

    • In this class, students will learn how to play an instrument, to read music, and to perform in an ensemble with their peers who are also learning to play the same, or different instruments.
    • Creativity, self expression, cooperation with peers, and independent practice are all very important characteristics that are common among band students.

**During the online-only phase of instruction caused by Covid-19, the 6th grade band class will not begin instruments. Mr. Walters will send out information about instruments and when that will begin as soon as plans are made. For 7th and 8th classes, band instruments will occasionally be used, but will not be the primary means through which music is learned. We will begin with the traditional band playing as soon as we can possibly get back into the band room!

  • Music Production

    • We are lucky to have the opportunity to begin a music production class through the producer SkiBeatz, who has chosen Dillard as a pilot school for a curriculm that allows students to create, mix, and arrange music using actual software that is used in the professional music industry.
    • Creativity, Collaboration, and Curiosity are all traits that are going to be useful in learning how to use and master this software to become a music producer.

**During the online-only phase of learning caused by Covid-19, the music production software and curriculum will not be accessible fully. Therefore this class will be adapted to be a more broad, inclusive musical learning opportunity.
