Welcome to the N.L. Dillard Middle School Art Page!
My name is Ms. Megan Kaltenbach and I am delighted to be teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Visual Arts at N.L.Dillard Middle School. I have a BFA in Art and a BA in Education from Western Carolina University. I am a highly qualified teacher. Students may have my class every year throughout their middle school education and it is so important to build and develop my relationship with these children. Like I tell my children, once you walk through my door, you are one of my own and I will be proud of them tomorrow, the next day, and twenty years from now.
In art class, students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will explore drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, and sculpture projects. When working with these mediums, we define personal creativity, interpret identity, explore world cultures, learn how to effectively communicate ideas and concepts, and grasp the concept of constructive criticism to better our artwork and who we are as artists.
Through a sense of community, students are provided space to grow into young adults and harness their creative abilities. In this art studio, students grow through positivity and creativity in a nurturing, choice based environment. In my classroom, I provide an opportunity for young adults to explore creative callings and intertwine them with core subjects like geometry and poetry. I believe that art is the universal language and I look forward to sharing this language with students at N.L. Dillard Middle School!
Everyday I get to wake up and answer my calling...to spread positivity and help mold well rounded, strong leaders through the power of visual arts!
I look forward to an awesome year of being a #GAMECHANGER
