Mrs. Melissa Oakes Lawson

I am so excited about beginning my 26th year of teaching!     I am married and have three children; Zayne (his wife Paige), Kennedy and James David. I have one adorable grandchild, Declan.  I enjoy traveling in the Caribbean Sea and spending time in Holden Beach, NC.  My husband and I have four French bulldogs named Elvis, Lucy, Charlie and Cookie.

My team-mates and I enjoy doing fun experiments with our third graders.  I am looking forward to a great year growing your child and preparing them for fourth grade.

Parents can help by checking your child's planner for homework assignments and making sure your child completes each assignment. Practicing multiplication facts and using Zearn will help your child progress in math.  Your child will also need a timer to use, so that they can read for 20 minutes each night.  After reading, have your child complete their reading log for that date. Partner reading with your child and asking questions about what you read will certainly help them attain higher reading levels.
