Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Cheryl Isom
Hello. My name is Cheryl Isom and I am the K-1 EC Teacher at Oakwood Elementary. I am excited to be here. I am a retired Virginia Public School Teacher. The past 5 years I have been teaching at a private school for children with autism, Building Blocks Center for Autism. I have a Master's degree in Special Education and a Certification in Autism. I have taught all areas of disabilities and I love them all. I have been in this field of work for 35 years.
I have been married for 21 years and have 2 beautiful stepchildren and one son of my own. My husband, Keith, is a retired investigator in Pittsylvania County and now works at Danville Sheriff’s Office. My stepson is a Virginia State Trooper, stepdaughter is a nurse, and my son is the Danville Animal Control Officer. I am very proud of my children. I also have an eleven year old granddaughter who is the apple of my eye and another granddaughter on the way.
In my free time I love to play with my three dogs, read, and camp. You can find me anytime, heading to the campgrounds with my camper. I also love the beach. I also am addicted to TikTok and desperately need an intervention.
